We had a really fun class last night on the wines of Portugal.  As is usual, we had a nice mix of folks, and everyone added a great deal to the conversation.  We were particularly lucky to have two ladies who had written a culinary guide to Portugal.  Obviously, they brought a lot of knowledge we wouldn’t have had, especially in the areas of history  and of course, food.

We studied table wines ranging from the light, crisp white of vinho verde, to the smooth and “pinot like” red of Dao, and a more robust reserve from Dao as well.  We finished our table wines appropriately with a classic red from Douro. It would be almost heretical to study wines of Portugal without checking out port and madeira, so that’s where we ended up.  All in all everyone seemed to enjoy the great company and at least a bit of education.  Thank you all for coming!
